IYC President, Pondi task Ijaw students to be good ambassadors ahead of challenges

National President of the Ijaw Youths Council IYC, (world-wide) Barr. Oweilaemi Pereotubo and Rt. Hon. Julius Pondi, federal lawmaker representing Burutu federal constituency have tasked Ijaw students  be good ambassadors to work hard to promote the Ijaw nation as the  region is bedeviled with series of challenges of underdevelopment as well as  environmental pollution from multinationals oil exploration /exploitation activities.


The duo said this during their separate speeches at in their visit to the Novena University over some Ijaw students that were rusticated by the University authorities,  said ‘‘ As Ijaw  students you should show high sense of responsibilities. You should be thoroughly disciplined if they bridge the law but it will not be kind enough to rusticate the Same students that we are trying very hard to build in the society.  I urge you to work hard to promote the Ijaw nation in the first burner as the region is bedevilled with underdevelopment challenges as well as the attendant multinationals degradation of the environmental pollution from oil exploration /exploitation activities.’’ Oweilaemi said.

The Ijaw youths council President and the federal lawmaker visit to the University campus as to resolve case of students who were  rusticated by the University authority over a protest against the University governing council in May 2nd 2018.

According to Pereotubo, ‘‘Niger Delta region being a special area that has unique human endowment, the students are to be treated as such and be assisted to bring out their best as good guardians’’

On his  part, the federal lawmaker, Rt. Hon. Julius Pondi who also spoke along with the IYC President used the medium to thank the school management for their understanding and also advised the students to work very hard stressing that Ijaw Youth in the Niger Delta must go forward and promised to make the platform necessary for the growth and development of the region

The Vice chancellor of Novena University Prof. Christ Okafor expressed gratitude to the Leaders for their timely intervention. ‘‘Your visit has proven that you have the Niger Delta students at heart’’ Meanwhile, he promised to do his best to reinstate the students in no distance time.

Also speaking at the meeting was the president of the Amnesty students who also doubled as IYC students reps Egbema Clan comrade Igbiriki Julius Timi thanked the students for their relentless efforts, persistent and resilience in making sure the students were called back after being rusticated.

Meanwhile, at the end of the peaceful meeting, the vice chancellor Prof. Christ Okafor had promised to reinstate the affected students. But warned that students should show a example of good ambassadors or would be shown the way out.
