WARRI- The Ijaw youths council (IYC) world-wide has lauded the reconciliation between PANDEF and PNDPC, he says the unity of the two factional great bodies would move the Niger Delta forward.
National President of IYC Mr. Oweilaemi Pereotubo made the commendation in a press statement made available to Daily Watch in Warri, said ‘‘The move by the different power players in the Niger Delta to come together in one umbrella to chat our common cause is highly commendable. The decision by members of Pan Niger Delta Peoples Congress (PNDPC) to accept the leadership of PANDEF by resolving their differences with members of the later is the right step in the right direction. This shows that the Niger Delta region is speaking in one voice’’ he asserted.
He noted IYC specifically thanked High Chief Mike Loyibo for his show of love and concern for the region. ‘‘To us, the coming together of the two seeming factions has set a new dawn for the struggle. We also thank our foremost national leader, Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark for the fatherly roles he has played to resolve the differences in PANDEF. The unity in PANDEF today is the brainchild of the elder statesman. IYC is proud to have Chief Clark as the National leader of PANDEF.
‘‘IYC also appreciate the efforts of the peace brokers. We commend the unwavering efforts of Alaowei Broderick Bozimo, Elder T. K. Ogoriba and others who brokered peace for the two splinter groups to come together. Let us now leverage on our unity to champion our cause. The stage should be set for Niger Delta people to occupy her pride of place. The dearth of socio-political development as well as the economic and moral decadence in the region is demanding for our collective efforts to chat a united front. Let us come together under the umbrella of PANDEF to tackle the external forces for the political-cum economic development of the region’’ he admonished.
