YENAGOA- The chairman of Ijaw Youths council IYC, central zone Bayelsa State, Barrister Tare Porri has called on all Ijaw sons and daughters to give the deserving honour and respect to Hero, late major Jasper Isaac Adaka Boro’s remembrance day celebration.
The IYC central zone Chairman, Barr. Tare Porri made this disclosure while addressing section of the press in Yenagoa, said ‘‘Business men and women to close down their offices in Yeangoa for a couple of three hours in the morning to observe and honour the Hero, late major Jasper Isaac Adaka Boro’s remembrance day celebration.
“Jasper Isaac Boro mean everything to the people of Ijaw Nation. He was the reason why we today have a state of our own, He was the reason for the creation of the Old Rivers State, the establishment of NDDC, the Niger Delta ministry and the Amnesty programme enjoy by many people today”.
He said that Isaac Boro fought against oppression for the emancipation of Ijaw people and that of the Niger Delta. ‘‘He gave his life for freedom, and for his people. And as such, we cannot but just to say a big thank to God and celebrate the Hero’’.
He noted that Boro was buried in Bayelsa, the ancestral home of Ijaw Nation ‘‘The Governor General of Ijaw Nation, the Governor of Bayelsa State, Governor Seriake Dickson few years ago discovered that Isaac Boro was erroneously buried at Lagos over some years past. His death came as a result of betrayal by the Nigeria Government.
‘‘The Governor General of Ijaw Nation Governor Seriake Dickson set up a team to take his remains to Abroad for foreign examination and the result shown that the particular remains were actually Boro’s. So, he was exhumed and brought back to Bayelsa the Jerusalem of Ijaw Nation to correct a long time error, and to be given a befitting burial. Of course, as a result of Boro’s burial we now have Hero’s park, where all Ijaw leaders who gave their life for the Ijaw national interest to be honored”
He thanked legends like Pa Owonaro, Adagbabiri, and Chief E. K Clark, who joined Boro for the Niger Delta Struggle. Coming down to the IYC, He thanked Felix Tuodolo, Asari Doukubo, Chris Ekiyor, Kingsley Kuku, General Tompolo and the rest of them who are descendant of late major Jasper Isaac Boro.
