Describes Buhari ethnic bigot

The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) worldwide has rejected the sack of the Acting Director General of the State Security Service (SSS) Matthew Seiyefa and the appointment of Yusuf Magaji Bichi from Kano in his stead by President Muhammadu Buhari.

IYC described   Seiyefa’s sack as the height of President Buhari’s nepotism and disregard for the national cohesion of Nigeria.

In a statement signed by the Nnational President IYC, Barri Oweilaemi Pereotubo, said ‘‘ Seiyefa’s sack as the height of President Buhari’s nepotism and disregard for the national cohesion of Nigeria.

“By sacking Matthew Seiyefa and replacing him with a man of President Buhari’s ethnic stock, the President has once more demonstrated that he is an ethnic bigot who does not have any regard for the peace, unity and inclusiveness of all Nigerians in the affairs of the country he governs.”

“This is not the first time Buhari is denying a qualified and competent Ijaw man who is the most senior in a National Security service his dues simply because he prefers his kinsmen even when they are off the service. It would be recalled that in October 2015 President Buhari bypassed the most senior officer in the Nigerian Custom Service, Dr Atte Akuama John (MFR), who is an Ijaw man to appoint a retired Nigerian Army officer Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali as substantive Comptroller-General (CG) of the Nigeria Custom Service leading to the resignation of many top officers in the NCS in protest.”

‘‘Information at our disposal reveals that Buhari’s new DG had finished his term and retired about 6 months ago and the next six most qualified and senior officers in the SSS are Southerns but because of nepotism and a deliberate policy of ethnic based political domination, like the current Customs boss,  Buhari went to recall him to the service to replace Seiyafa.

‘‘With the unceremonious sack of Seiyefa and his replacement with his co-ethnic, President Buhari has demonstrated beyond all reasonable doubt that he is a sectional leader that is only for a section of the North and not the entire Nigeria.”

“We expected Nigeria to be a nation where all citizens irrespective of their ethnicity, religion or region would have equal access to public office but with the sack of Seiyefa bringing the number of heads of security outfits to 16 Northerners out of the 17 in the country it is clear that the Buhari Presidency is nothing but a parochial and sectional one that is against the unity of this Nigeria, especially were we talk about federal character.”
Finally, we want the world to see the disgusting posturing of Mr President who clearly said in one of his press interview that there is no way he can favour a 3% of Nigerians against a 97% that voted for him in the 2015 elections.’’  The statement said.
