Governorship aspirant and former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development for State, Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri has expressed confident of electoral victory as Appeal Court sitting in Port Harcourt grant an appeal filled by him following a ‘controversial’ judgment delivered the Federal High Court in Yenagoa, on November 14 two days to the governorship election.
He, therefore assured his supporters and party faithful that he is the next Governor of Bayelsa state which justice will be served to him through the Appellate Court.
Sen. Lokpobiri said the judgment by the lower Court do not serve his prayers where he (Lokpobiri) prayed before the court that he won the primary election that was conducted on the 4th of September 2019, therefore he asked the court to declare him winner based on the evidence presented before the court.
The lower Court which was presided over by Justice Jane Inyang ,voided the primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and declared that the party did not conduct its primary election in accordance with the guidelines of the party’s constitution, adding that the party has no validly nominated candidate for the just concluded November 16 governorship poll.
The judgment which jolted the winner of the election David Lyon and his challenger Heineken Lokpobiri prompted them to seek redress from the Appellate Court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The Appeal Court granted the prayers of the plaintiff and respondent , and both parties were given seven 7 days each to file claims, and fixed December 30, 2019 for the hearing of the case.
