Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has been lampooned over his involvement in the bribery allegation to judicial officers with a view to upturning the cause of justice.
A group known as “Imo Transparency League” had taken a wipe at Governor Okorocha and his rescue mission agents, following information that they had given N100 million to some judges handling the purpoted impeachment case brought to it by the embattled Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere.
Speaking on behalf of the group in Owerri, National Coordinator, Barr Kingsley Iwuji expressed bitterness that while the entire public was condemning Governor Okorocha’s authocratic style of governance, he had also pitched tent in destroying the image of the judiciary.
He maintained that having succeeded in desecrating traditional institution in the state, Governor Okorocha has risen again to abuse the cause of justice.
According to him, if Governor Okorocha does not respect court orders, it would amount to sheer betrayal, abuse of trust and double standard for any judicial officer to accept his bribe, describing it as a height of executive rascality.
He said, “Elthelbert Okorocha has messed governance up in the state, he has taken over the Legislative arm of the state as his private business, he has forcefully hijacked all empty lands belonging to the state government, but it will be a very big sin if he is allowed to take over the judiciary. This is the only hope we have for now until he leaves office”.
Barr Iwuji therefore called on the general public to join in the clamour to protest against the judiciary following rumours of bribery and corruption rocking the system, especially by the rescue mission government, while advising all judicial officers to remain trustworthy in the discharge of their duties.
