Govt will focus on roads construction in riverine areas in 2nd tenure-Okowa

Delta state governor Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has assured riverine dwellers in the state of road networks construction connecting communities the creeks for good transportation in his second tenure.

Governor Okowa disclosed this yesterday at government house during a press briefing with journalists, said ‘‘ I want to assure Delta riverine communities in the creek that road networks will be joining their communities before my second tenure ends.  We have done so much road projects for upland communities during my first tenure in the state. We have focus on the riverine communities who have been suffering on road over the years. They are Deltans, they every right to enjoy social amenities like others. That was my promise to them during my campaign. And must come to pass before the end of my second tenure’’

He said government will accomplish ongoing projects in the state before awarding fresh projects. This he said is to enable the government pay contractors of outstanding debts so much to take them out of serious debts on bank loans.

He expressed worry on the insecurity orchestrated by herdsmen in the state, noting that the state would partner with federal government to tackle the menacing herdsmen.

According to Okowa ‘‘ We will build 271 primary health centers across the state to tackle general healthcare, especially nursing mother and children in the state.

He also promised to establish 19 technical colleges in the state to add up with the already existing 6 technical colleges. This according to the governor would be sited across the state.

 

The governor citing China as a country become technologically strong due to its technical colleges, stating that encouragement would be given to children who are in technical colleges’

On minimum wage, Senator Okowa said that Delta state government is willing to pay the 30% minimum wage as soon as federal government comes up with a clear template.

He thanked journalists and other stakeholders for the massive support he enjoyed during his first tenure and especially in the period of  the 2019 campaigns as well as the election coverage for their professional reporting in their various media.

He assured Deltans of a stronger and unified Delta in his second tenure which was brought about by his SMART agenda.
