His Excellency, the Honourable Henry Seriake Dickson, Governor of Bayelsa State, has approved the appointment of the Commissioner for Health, Prof. Ebitimitula Nicholas Etebu, as the Acting Vice Chancellor òf the newly established Bayelsa State Medical University, Yenagoa.
Also, the governor approved the appointment of Dr. Akpoebi Adesi, as the Acting Registrar of the Bayelsa State Medical University .
In a press statement signed by Mr. Fidelis Soriwei, Special Adviser, Media Relations, said Prof. Etebu, a fellow of the International College òf Surgeons, was the Medical Director at the Federal Medical Centre Yenagoa from 2006 to 2014.
Prof. Etebu, a Professor òf Pathology, also lectured at the Department òf Health Sciences, University òf Port Harcourt from 2003 to 2006.
The new Acting Vice Chancellor who is a member of several professional associations with several academic publications to his credit was also Head, Anatomical Pathology Department, University òf Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital among others.
Prof. Etebu’s appointment is part of the efforts of His Excellency to lay a solid foundation for the Bayelsa State Medical University.
Similarly, the Governor has also approved the appointment of Dr. Akpoebi Adesi, as the Acting Registrar of the Bayelsa State Medical University .
Before his appointment Dr. Adesi was the Registrar of the Jasper Isaac Adaka Boro College òf Education, Sagbama.
Both appointments take immediate effect.
