Edo state Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, in a rally that was held in
Benin yesterday, thursday11th July, has sent a strong warning to the
National Assembly to stay away from the impasse currently rocking Edo
state House of Assembly, EDHA, that sent majority of the members elect
to flee Edo state to seek refuge in Abuja where they are asking the
NASS to intervene and restore democracy in the state legislative

Speaking to a mammoth crowd at the Kings square, Ring road, where
protest rally in solidarity with the governor was held, Mr. Obaseki
who appears undaunted, about the planned investigation, of the remote
and immediate causes of the EDHA impasse, said; ‘…for those of you,
who have gone to Abuja to ask people from outside to come and invade
Edo, and seal up our House of Assembly, we are waiting for you…we are
waiting for you….’
It will be recalled that, following a motion moved Hon. Professor
Julius Ihonbhere on the floors of the House of representatives a
couple of days ago, to seal up and take over the affairs of the Edo
state House of Assembly, the leadership of NASS set up an
investigation AD-Hoc Committee Chaired by Hon. Rasaq Namdas to
investigate the impasse rocking EDHA, and submit their report within
five working days.
Since the charade inauguration took place, the Edo state Governor, Mr.
Godwin Obaseki has been offering juicy incentives, which includes
Prado Jeeps and cash sum of five million naira (#5,000,000)to some of
the aggrieved members to join the members that were clandestinely
inaugurated; but, so far, only three, including Hon. Emmanuel Agbaje,
Hon. Ikpenomen and Hon. Nosayaba Okunbor has succumbed to the lure
from the governor while the remaining 15, who are still in majority,
are insisting on the conduct of a proper and transparent inauguration.
