The Federal Medical Centre (FMC) has offered free Medical Services to hundreds of people in Yenaka community, Yenagoa Local government Area of Bayelsa state.
It was gathered that the chief Medical Director, Dr Dennis Alagoa gave the directive that free medical services be rendered to FMC’s host communities in furtherance of the commitment of enhancing cooperation.
Amongst the services provided were free drugs, free eye and HIV tests, dental services and others.
Over 300 availed themselves the opportunity of receiving medical checkups and medications as provided by the FMC Yenagoa.
Also, one of the beneficiaries, Mr Famous Izibeya said “I came here to avail myself of the opportunity that is available to everybody else. I checked my blood sugar level, my eye, blood pressure and I received medication at the pharmacy”.
Chief Osuta Douglas, Deputy Paramount Ruler, Yeneka Community equally expressed his appreciation to FMC for the free medical outreach, saying that it is of great advantage, especially after the flood experience.
He also urged the government to extend the gesture to other communities in Bayelsa.
Chief Zeikime Koffi, a woman leader, Yenaka community, expressed delightedness over the free medical outreach rendered to them.
Dr Mariere Ulenma, a medical practitioner said that the free medical outreach is a way of giving back to the host Community.
She added that, they have to be doing it from time to time for the betterment of the people.
