The president general of Isoko Development Union, High Chief Iduh Amadhe, has called on Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the governor of Delta State, for urgent intervention to rescue the people and vehicles stranded in Asaba- Ase community in Ndokwa East local government area, as ravaging flood cut’s across the road between them and Uzere kingdom, Isoko South local government area of Delta State.
Speaking to Journalists at Ekregbesi community in Uzere kingdom, Isoko South local government area, where the ravaging flood cut across the road and subjecting people and vehicles to life threatening danger said, urgent intervention must be taken now to rescue the people from
He expressed surprise at the sudden cut of the road, been the market day of Asaba – Ase clan as people from Isoko, Urhobo, Kwale and Ijaw area that buy and sell goods were at the market when the flood suddenly cut across the road. He maintained that if urgent step is not taken, over 40 vehicles may remained at the other side of the road till November 2020.
Amadhe appealed to governor Okowa to provide big marine boat to rescue people and vehicles across the damaged portion of the road now under heavy current of the ravaging flood. He also asked for a portu to be stationed at the area until final solution of road maintenance will be provided.
For her part, Miss Florence Godspower, a trader from Igbide said, she passed through the road in the morning with her goods to the market, but suddenly, they were informed that the road has been cut by the ravaging flood, which according to her was just by the side of the road earlier today.
She said, to cross one person across the damaged portion with high current flood is N500 while speed boat from the market area, costs N2,000 each, just as motor cycles were at the other side of the road to carry people back.
At the time of filing the report, persons that got to the damaged portion of the road were crying for immediate help from governor Okowa, even as the police Hilux with security men was stranded at the other side of the road waiting for rescue.
