In a significant move towards environmental preservation and ecosystem restoration, the Delta State government has forged a groundbreaking partnership with Serendib Capital UK.

Commending the State government efforts, the Environmentalist and Executive Director of Niger Delta Eco Monitors and former Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Environmental Protection Agency (DELSEPA), Mr. Franklin Magada, lauded this collaboration during a press conference in Warri.

Magada, emphasized the importance of the partnership, especially as the United Nations declared the next decade as the era of ecosystem restoration, as he commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his visionary leadership and commitment to sustainable environmental initiatives under the MORE AGENDA framework.

“The signing of this MoU with Serendib Capital UK marks a significant milestone in our journey towards environmental rejuvenation,” stated Magada. “Delta State stands as a shining example of practical environmental reforms and sustainable development.”

He also expressed gratitude to Serendib Capital UK for selecting Delta State as its initial partner in the Niger Delta region. Magada assured stakeholders of peaceful engagement and collaboration in advancing environmental restoration efforts.

The announcement garnered widespread approval among environmental stakeholders, with many viewing it as a pivotal step towards addressing long-standing environmental challenges in the Niger Delta. Magada emphasized the need for a comprehensive Niger Delta Environmental Sensitive Index framework to guide restoration efforts effectively.

“Today’s partnership underscores the importance of collaboration and collective action in safeguarding our environment,” remarked Magada. “We must also recognize the significance of projects like the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP) in achieving restoration success, as evidenced by the ongoing Ogoni cleanup.”

As Delta State takes bold strides towards ecological sustainability, the partnership between the government and Serendib Capital UK, signals a new era of environmental stewardship in the region.
