MEINBUTUS electoral Chairman Comrade Lucky Ogelegbanwei, today (Saturday) has announced Comrade Joseph Enieyekebi winner as the chairman of MEINBUTUS community in a keenly contested peaceful, free and fair election in Warri, Delta state.
The ELEC chairman Comrdae Lucky said Eniyekebi pulled a total vote of 25 votes, defeated his two opponents Comrade. Amakiye Ekaye whot pulled 16 votes and Comrade Powede Egbele 11 votes respectively.
The ELECO Chairman thanked the MEINBUTUS elders/ Bot, the police and other stakeholders for a peaceful, free and fair election.
In their various speeches, leaders of MEINBUTUS Amb. Godday Smith (aka Bounanawei /King of the forest) King Jerry, Amb. Dibi Yinkore, High Chief Richard Enarede and High Chief Andabofa Opunama expressed joy for the peaceful election for the successful transition to another leadrship of MEINBUTUS for another three years.
The elders council advised the new leadership to work in line with the MEINBUTUS ordinance which has been followed rigorously over the years to move the Ijaw Nation forward.
In his acceptance speech, Eniyekebi pledged to run an open door policy. He promised to move with everybody both other aspirants who contested with him. He said he is open to wise counselling to promote the interest of Ijaw/ Niger Delta in an atmosphere of peace to attract development to the Ijaw nation.
