WARRI- Director General of the direct labour agency in Delta State, Rt (Hon) Frank Enekoragha has put smile to several widows in Burutu Local Government area of Delta State, last weekend as he gave cash gifts to them to cushion their suffering.
While presenting the gifts to the widows at Beeland hotel in grand ceremony in Udu, Warri, Enekoragha, said ‘‘ I do not have much to give you. I am not happy in bringing you together here. I didn’t have much to make everybody happy. But I have promised to support you over the years. This is an annual event. This year, I decide to gather you all today for us to know ourselves and celebrate for the glory of God.
Continuing ‘‘No gift can wipe your tears as widows .But it is only God that can give you the best gift and succour . Some of us were your husbands friends, brothers and political party members. But today, they are no more and all of us cannot abandon you.’’ He said
Enekoraghan who was a former federal law maker representing Burutu federal constituency urged politicians in the Burutu not to abandon the less privileged ones in the council area. He charged the council Chairman, Hon. Godknows Angele to move the council area forward, adding that he should behave differently from the rest of the former council chairmen which is the only guarantee to secure his support.
He said that the widows empowerment is part of the state governor Senator Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa’s Smart agenda of women empowerment in Delta State.The widows were selected from various communities in the eleven federal wards in Burutu local government area.
In his address, Hon. Godknows Angele, newly elected Chairman Burutu Local government area commended the former federal law maker, Hon. Enekoragha for his humanitarian service towards the widows in Burutu Local Government area. He pledged to deliver the dividends of democracy to all communities and expressed his gratitude for given him their mandate during the recent council poll. He said he would take a thank you tour to all the wards in the council area.
The women in their various speech thanked and prayed for Frank Enekoragha for God guidance and protection while they sang and danced for the gifts. The occasion was witnessed by top Burutu Politicians, include commissioner for youth Delta State, Hon. Asupa Forteta, executive aide to the governor of Delta State, Hon. Arede Edeinmene, Hon. Godknows Angele, Chairman Burutu LGA, and other dignitaries.
