To actualized Edo Queens’ dream of winning the Nigeria Women Football League title, and also to play in the Super (4), technical adviser of the team, Coach Adejoh, has revealed that the management is set to carry out total overhauling of the entire squad to enable the team actualize its dream.
He said that he was not too comfortable with the lackadaisical attitude of some of the players most especially when it comes to match situation, stressing that their major aim this season is to win laurels for the state government which has given them a good morale and financial backing.
“I want commend the state government for the support this far. In this club, we have never had it so good. The players and the technical crew are getting all the necessary assistance from the government to make our jobs easier.
“So on our part, we are also ready to do the needful, and ensure that the promise we made to the government is also fulfilled. And how do we do that is by ensuring that we win laurels this season.
“Now that we are in mid -season break, the technical department of Edo Queens have decided to shop for good players to beef up our team. We are in serious need of attackers and mid-fielders, and we need to do this before we enter into the second quarter of the league.
“I’m not saying that we don’t have quality players, but we just need to beef up the team because we do not want to take chances. Edo Queens is a team that is highly respected in Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) it is time for us to do something fantastic and prove to others that we are not a push- over team.
“Well, I do want to tell you the names of players that might be asked to go for security reason. Any player that is no longer productive knows that she would certainly be dropped.
“We want players that can score goals for us. I almost wept in our games against Nasarawa Amazons in Lokoja, and our last game against Adamawa in Pantami Stadium, Gombe, where our girls had 15 goal scoring chances they could not covert.
“As coaches we give them everything they need to know on the pitch of play, in fact women football is full of surprises. It is when you need them most they disappoint you.
“For us to move forward, we must step on some people’s toes.”
Meanwhile, three players of Edo Queens, who were recently invited to the female national team, have commended the coaches for deeming it wise to invite them.
Speaking on behalf of the invited players, Nneka Julius said that they are so have to be among other national female players invited for trials.
“We are so delighted to see our names among the Super Falcons players invited to national camp.
“I want to say that we will go there and do our best and ensure that we make the list of players that will represent our country in the forthcoming Olympic Games and All African Games. We are indeed very happy; I promise that we will not disappoint our fans.
