Speaker of the Edo state House of Assembly Hon. Frank Okiye who was elected by minority of Edo members Elect, in a questionable nocturnal inauguration on the 17th of June, 2019, was allegedly impeached today, Monday, 12th October, and Hon Marcus Onobun, who represents Esan west Constituency, was made to replace him as the new factional Speaker of the House.
The change in the leadership of the House may not be unçonnected with a brewing feud between the governor of Edo state, Mr. Godwin Obaseki and his Deputy, Hon. Phillip Shuaibu. However, what prompted the power tussle between the Governor and his Deputy is yet unknown, considering the fact that election has just been concluded.
It could however be recalled that, the majority 17 members of the Edo state House of Assembly, has Rt. Hon. Victor Sabor Edoror as the Speaker of the House.
