As the political crisis currently rocking Edo state, as a result of
the kangaroo inauguration of the state Assembly lingers on, more
turbulent days lurks ahead as palpable fears and apprehension has gripped the camp of the governor of the state, Mr. Godwin Obaseki who from every indication has lost control of the state by following the selfish advice of his cronies who are currently desperately trying to work out solutions to diffuse the web of crisis they have entangled the governor in.

Series of meetings of Edolites who are averse to the impunity of thegovernor in recent days, were held in Benin City on Friday and
yesterday, and information reaching Daily Watch, reveals that the
meetings are likely to continue today, Sunday, 30th June.
The coming days, information reveals, may witness series of mega protests from the people of Edo state to send signals to the governor of Edo state that the way Edo state is currently being run by gangsters, is an indication that, he has completely lost control of the state and he needs to do the needful to get the state back on track. This impending showdown is said to be responsible for the journey made by the former Speaker of Edo state House of Assembly,EDHA, Alhaji Kabiru Adjoto to his country home Kakumo, in Akoko Edo
local government area of his state, possibly to fortify himself
spiritually as were his trademark when he was Speaker of EDHA.
Again, Philip Shuaibu, the Deputy Governor of Edo state, is said to be
currently feeling jittery over the order from the Inspector General of
Police, IG, to transfer the Chief Security Officer, CSO, at the Edo
government House ASP Chris Nwokolo over the roles he played in using
men and officers of the police force to give thugs the backing to
unleash mayhem on the Members elect of EDHA at Golden Tulips Hotel in
Benin recently. Shuaibu, who was earlier invited to Abuja, was
implicated in the thuggery issue, hence the IG who sees the action as
executive rascality on the part of the government of Edo state, washed
his hands clean, as he wouldn’t want the image of the Nigerian Police
Force to be dragged in the mud by politicians.
As all these were playing out, Governor Godwin Obaseki who is said to
have sealed agreement with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on how
to crumble the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Edo state, so as to
bring PDP back to power in the state, is also very confused and angry
over the negative outcome of the ill advise he got from his cronies.
Therefore, the governor, on Saturday, 29th June, in a frantic effort
to savage what he could, went to Ososo, the country home of Hon.
Emmanuel Agbaje, one of the honourable members elect to represent
Akoko Edo II, who is yet to be inaugurated, to apologize to his
parents on the failed attempt by his government to kidnap their son,
and force him to be inaugurated. It could be recalled that four
members were earlier forcefully inaugurated, in other to increase the
number of the illegally inaugurated legislators from five to nine,
which according to them, was a quorum required for a sitting in the
hallow chambers, forgetting that, inauguration of a new Assembly of
legislators, is different from ordinary sittings.
Edolites and Nigerians in general, are watching to see how the current executive rascality of Edo state governor and his cabal will
eventually end.
