* Why Friday Eluro, others must go to jail
The viral video of a helpless young girl kidnapped from the street, taken to the residence of a gang leader and beaten black and blue and stripped naked under video camera with both legs hands tied up by a gang led by security aide to the executive Governor of Delta state, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa who goes by the name Mr. Friday Eluro is eliciting public outrage.
The said video that was made public went viral in social media attracted widespread condemnation across the nation and beyond in both social and the conventional media.
It was made worse especially when investigation disclosed that the arrowhead of the gangster is Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s special security aide.
We first commend the laudable step by the governor of Delta state, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for sacking the security aide as well as the traditional ruler, Obi of Owa HRM Dr. Emmanuel Efezeimo who joined the Delta state government in striping the said gang leader of his traditional chieftaincy title.
What we are not comfortable in the matter is the fact that after a known gang committed this voluminous crime of assault against a helpless young girl, the perpetrators are allowed to walk freely on the streets, instead of thrown into detention with hard labour to pay for the sins of public assault on a helpless young lady.
Daily Watch wants to say categorically that Mr. Friday Eluro’s choice or appointment as a member of governor Okowa’s security team is a disgrace and embarrassment to the Delta state government.
The action of Friday Eluro is condemnable in its entirety by every decent and rational human being, especially when you have a daughter or sister at home and she is subjected to such traumatizing condition. If one watches the said debased video, you will conclude that Mr. Friday Eluro and his gang members are not better than animals. There is no difference between that of ritual murderers who have no sympathy for human lives and that of Friday gang.
Daily Watch team, therefore urge the state governor Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to complete his good work by immediately directing the state commissioner of Police to give order for arrest and prosecution of all persons involved directly or indirectly in the said assault of the poor woman to act as a deterrent to others. This to us, is the only way justice will prevail as the law will take its course on the sad assault and attempted murder of a defenseless poor girl.
The society is watching and if necessary steps are not taken by the Delta state government over the matter at the appropriate time, we will not mind consulting our legal team to take a necessary legal step to fight for the helpless assaulted young lady for redress to appease the lady in question and all aggrieved women in the society.
