The police on Friday attacked protesters who stormed the Police Headquarters in Abuja over continued detention of Premium Times reporter, Samuel Ogundipe.

Many of the protesters were left unconscious.

Ogundipe is being held by the police over a story he wrote on the report submitted to the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, by the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris over the sacked boss of the Department of State Service, Lawal Daura.

Led by popular musician and human rights activist, Charly Boy (Charles Oputa), Deji Adeyanju and Omoyele Sowore the protesters stormed the gate of the police headquarters.

They were however prevented from gaining entrance by battle ready policemen.

The policemen later attacked the protesters praying teargas to disperse them.

The attack left many unconscious while others scurried off for safety.

They protesters, however, vowed not to be intimidated.

According to them, until the police release Ogundipe, they would not stop the protest.
