WARRI – THE Delta State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Comrade Michael Ikeogwu weekend called on the leadership of the Union in Nigeria as well as the Delta State Governor, Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa to give Comrade Akpokona Omafuaire the necessary support to win the ticket for the House of Representatives, Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency Seat.
Ikeogwu made the call in Warri weekend during a chat with Journalists.
According to Ikeogwu, “This is the only candidate of the NUJ that has indicated interest to contest in the state, and I am calling on the National Leadership of the NUJ and our amiable Governor, Sen.(Dr.)Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa to support the NUJ candidate in the State.
“We want to make positive change in this dispensation and not just sit back and criticizing the politicians but participating in the process.
“Akpokona Omafuaire, experienced Journalist and a lawyer in view, is a competent and tested hand in leadership and I can tell you he is the right candidate that is fit for the job. Please, give him all your supports.”
The NUJ Delta State Chairman also use the opportunity to challenge journalists in the country not to shy away but take up the challenge as all hands must be on deck to build the Nigeria we desire.
Ikeogwu added, “Omafuaire is out to liberate, propagate and promote ‘Youthocracy’ and vibrancy in the lawmaking business.”
The Statement stressed that the United States of America saw a change with Martin Luther King Jr as he speared headed civil rights.
“The world is embracing this two points leadership characteristics. With Obama we saw a vibrancy and he was a bridged between the youths and the old. He was vibrant and that is what we need at such a time that former President, Olusegun Obasanjo is calling for coalition.
“We shall deploy all our arsenal to ensure that Omafuaire wins and lead the way for other young people in the green Chamber.” Ikeogwu
