Executive Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Communications, Dr Fred Oghenesivbe has said that the single tenure (2019-2023) campaign strategy adopted by the three major aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, is meant to deceive and short-change Urhobo ethnic nationality of Delta Central Senatorial District.
Oghenesivbe in a statement said the trio of Prof Pat Utomi, Dr Cairo Ojuogbo and Rt Hon Victor Ochei, are going about deceiving the Urhobo people that if elected in 2019 under APC, power shall return to Delta Central in 2023, thereby indirectly acknowledging the power sharing agreement by the three senatorial districts.
He noted that the three aspirants from Delta North Senatorial district (Utomi, Ojuogbo and Ochei) belong to Olorogun Otega Emerhor led APC Delta Mainstream faction, campaiging for single tenure to complete the two tenure of Delta North, adding that such electioneering campaign promise was designed to systematically short change Urhobo people of Delta Central and must fail woefully.
Okowa’s EA communications further revealed that there is a hidden agenda by Emerhor and some APC stakeholders in Delta North to hijack and retain power in that particular senatorial district for another eight years, pointing out that by the time Okowa’s four years is added, Delta North would at the end of the day retained governorship position for a total of twelve (12) years (2015-2027), non-stop.
He disclosed that Gov Okowa is strictly against such conspiracy agenda against Urhobo ethnic nationality of Delta Central; which was why he had to re-echo his unrepentant commitment and firm promise to handover power to a democratically elected Governor from Urhobo extraction on May 29, 2023.
“Delta APC is a house divided against itself as can be seen from the two counter productive electioneering campaign promises. While the faction led by Emerhor is seeking one tenure governorship deal for it’s Delta North aspirants, the Chief Great Ogboru led faction backed by the party’s national chairman, Adams Oshiomole, wholesomely seeks eight years tenure from 2019-2027, thereby denying Delta North of its second tenure via the incumbent governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa.
“Which ever way one considers the highly complicated campaign proposals of the two waring Delta APC factions as far as 2019 gubernatorial elections in Delta State is concerned, you find that APC Delta is not united to give the good people of Delta State any meaningful or tangible socioeconomic development, rather the party warlords are pursuing selfish and tiny group interests that will surely take the state backward, if allowed to achieve it’s clueless, ill-conceived and narrow-minded struggle for political power.
“Deltans cannot be cajoled into a faulty and misleading electioneering campaign promise at this time, and its certainly impossible to play on the super intelligence of the good people of Urhobo Nation in Delta Central. This kind of deceit is dead on arrival. Urhobo people shall vote Okowa in 2019 to complete Delta North two tenure in 2023.
“Gov Okowa is the choice of Deltans and he has been endorsed by royal fathers, leaders, women and youth in Delta North, Delta Central and Delta South, to complete the two tenure of eight years for Delta North before power returns to Urhobo Nation of Delta Central on May 29, 2023.
“The ill-conceived single tenure by Delta North aspirants of APC Delta Mainstream and the wholesome Urhobo Governor for eight years (2019-2027) unscrupulously crafted by Light of APC Delta, to short change Delta North so as not to complete her eight years of two tenure, clearly revealed the complicated and wicked nature of APC as a party.
In 2015, President Muhammadu Buhari opted for a single tenure presidential deal with Nigerians, he made it to ASO Rock villa; only to shock Nigerians in 2018 by presenting himself for a second tenure re-election bid come 2019. Buhari is not smarter than 180 million NIGERIANS which is why he must return to Daura after the forthcoming general elections. APC has demonstrated sufficient unscrupolous skills in terms of failed campaign promises made in 2015.
“It is obvious that the double-edged sword with which Delta APC intend to promote political anarchy during 2019 gubernatorial election in the state is now in public domain, as aptly captured in the blurred and highly deceitful electioneering campaign proposals highlighted above and offered to Deltans by the two warring factions of the APC Delta Light of Labour and Delta APC Mainstream, respectively.
“Come 2019, Deltans shall re-elect Gov Okowa being the authentic choice of the good and progressive people of Delta North and further boosted by his result oriented good governance strides in the last three years and still counting,” Oghenesivbe added.
