The Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters and Sagbama Coordinator of the Seriake Dickson Campaign, Chief Collins Cocodia, has described the attempted invasion of the country home of the immediate past Governor of the state, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson by unknown gunmen as babaric and insensitive.
The unknown gunmen in three speedboats had come through the Forcados River at about 2am on Thursday, and attempted to gain entry into the former Governor’s home in Toru-Orua, Sagbama Local Government Area, but were repelled by Policemen on duty.
A Police Inspector who sustained gunshots injuries resulting from the fierce encounter with the gunmen, later died.
Reacting to the sad incident in Yenagoa, the S.A Political condemned the attack in strong terms, calling on the State Police Command not to rest on their oars until the perpetrators are brought to book.
According to him, the former Governor deserves much respect and honour after his service to the state, and not attacks from hoodlums.
“It is really sad that some persons will attempt to invade the residence of the immediate past Governor and our leader, someone who served the state and the Ijaw nation meritoriously for several years”.
“It is highly condemnable, and I urge the security agencies to investigate this sad occurrence, and bring those culpable to face the wrath of the law”.
Chief Cocodia who is also the Sagbama Coordinator for the Seriake Dickson Senatorial Campaign, urged youths to engage in meaningful ventures, especially, in the programs soon to be unveiled by the state government.
He expressed his sympathy with the family and relatives of the Police Inspector who was killed, and prayed God to give them the fortitude to bear the loss.
