_In a bid to combat the ongoing cholera outbreak in Burutu Local Government of Delta state, Dr. Julius Takeme, the Executive Chairman has announced plans to launch a comprehensive sensitization campaign and distribute essential drugs to health centers across the affected communities.

This announcement was made during the first executive meeting of his administration, held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.
Dr. Takeme expressed deep concern over the rising number of cholera cases, stressing the urgency of the situation. “It has come to our attention that several communities are being affected by this bacterial outbreak.
His words, “” We cannot afford to sit back and allow this health crisis to spread further. Our administration is committed to taking immediate action,” he said.
The sensitization campaign will focus on raising awareness about cholera prevention and proper hygiene practices, with outreach efforts aimed at educating residents about the importance of clean water, sanitation, and early treatment. Health officials will visit communities, engage with local leaders, and distribute educational tips to ensure that residents are well-informed on how to protect themselves and their families from the disease.
Also. the distribution of vital cholera treatment drugs will be carried out in coordination with local health centers to ensure timely intervention for those who may be affected.
Dr. Takeme emphasized that this initiative is part of a broader plan to improve healthcare infrastructure and access to essential services within the local government area.
In his address, Dr. Takeme reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability, assuring the people of Burutu that their welfare will always be a top priority. “We will ensure that every action taken is in the best interest of our people, and we will work diligently to address the challenges facing our communities,” he added.
The executive chairman also promised that his leadership would be marked by proactive measures to improve public health, infrastructure, and overall community well-being. He called on all stakeholders, including traditional leaders, health workers, and residents, to collaborate in the fight against the cholera outbreak and in building a healthier, stronger Burutu.
