Palpable tension Tuesday in Ogbe-Ijoh as a middle aged man, identified as Mr. Taylor Ogofugha was shot dead by alleged Aladja community attackers.
Daily Watch gathered that there was heavy tension in Ogbe-Ijoh community when gunmmen allegedly said to have come from Aladja community carried out attack on Ogbe-Ijoh community, killing a peace loving youth who few months ago packed to his own new building with his family.
A community leader, Chief Monday Keme told Daily Watch, confirming the killing, said ‘’The Aladja attackers worked into Ogbe-Ijoh and opend gunfire on one middle aged man, Mr. Taylor Ogofugha killing at the spot. The gunshot attracted the youths and they repelled the attackers back to Aladja forest. There is high tension in the community, despite the presence of military men for fear of possible return of the Aladja gunmen’’ he said.
Our effort to get to Aladja popular youths leader, Comrade Bezi Ighotegholor to get Aladja community reaction over the allegation was not successful as his phone was not reachable as at the time of filing this report.
However, we called the Delta State Police Public Relations Ofiicer, DSP Ono Onovwapkpoyaye to confirm the security development. The Police image maker said ‘‘ We have not been briefed about any attack or killing in Aladja or Ogbe-Ijo on Tuesday. I will get back to you’’ The police PRO promised.
