Business women and travelers plying Bomadi/Ohoror road en route Onitsha were waylaid and robbed in the early hours on Wednesday at failed portion of the road between Odurubu/Uduophori axis in an operation that lasted for over 30 minutes unchallenged in Delta State.
The daredevil armed robbers numbering six struck around 5,15am on Wednesday and took advantage of a failed portion of the road between Odurubu/Oduophori axis in Patani Council Area of the State to unleash terror on their victims.
According to one of the robbery victims Mrs Ebiakpo Pioneer , said the robbers blocked a failed portion of road were motorists usually slowdown, came out the bush to robbed them of all their monies and phones. She lamented that how would she stock her chop with goods now that she has lost everything.
Also a commuter identified as Mark Aseyaibi said over four Sienna vehicles fell prey to the robbers and lamented that the robbers operated for almost 30 minutes without being challenged.
Aseyaibi called on the Joint Military Taskforce stationed at Bomadi overside to also extend their operating in providing security for travellers among the Bomadi/Ohoror road and not only to restrict their operation in checking the activities of illegal oil bunkery.
On his part, the Chairman of National Worker’s of Road Transport Union. Bomadi motor park chapter Mr. Andy Awusa called on the State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to as a matter of urgency repair the failed portion of the road to avoid lost of lives.
Awusa speaking further tasked the Council Chairmen of Bomadi and Patani to make minor repairs on the failed portions of the road while waiting for the State Government to do a major repair.
