Benin group admonishes Ijaw to be of good behaviour

His Royal Majesty Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin

Benin Solidarity Movement(BSM) has warned Ijaw people residing in Edo State to be of good behaviour and accord the Benin Monarch, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare 11, the reverence he deserves.

In a statement issued in Benin on Tuesday and signed by Curtis Ugbo, the BSM said: “Over time, it has become the stock-in-trade of Ijaw miscreants operating under different inglorious militant appellations to throw garbage at and threaten Edo people, the revered Benin Monarch, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare 11, N’Ogidigan and the Edo State Governor, His Excellency, Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, for flimsy reasons.

“In all these not a word of caution was ever uttered to the dredges of society by anybody of note within the Ijaw ethnic group, a sign that they operate in cahoot with the hoodlums.

“However, all of a sudden the dormant factional IYC president, and self-styled IPDI leaders came out to openly give support to their criminally minded brethrens a departure from the clandestine backing style they hitherto adopted.

“From all indications, the hood has been removed from the inglorious militant groups like the self-styled Niger Delta Forum(NDF) and it is crystal clear that the factional IYC, IPDI and NDF operate in unison.

“We have kept quite all these years when the uncircumcised Ijaw militants heaped insults on our great Oba of Benin Kingdom not because we are afraid of war.

“They should never underestimate us. The gentle nature of a lion must not be mistaken for timidity.

“One thing that the ill-bred Ijaw militants and their supporters should always know is that the Benins are the fourth largest ethnic nationality in Nigeria and also the Benin Monarch is the second longest reigning in the world. We can never throw this rich history to the dogs.

“The Ijaws should learn to be of good behaviour and accord Oba Ewuare 11 the reverence he deserves.”
