Alambo Datonye of Radio Nigeria Creek Fm 106.5 has been re-elected as the Chairman of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Bayelsa State chapter to pilot affairs of the association for the next three years.
Others elected were Comr.Amgbare PereOlotu, ministry of information as vice chairman, Mr. Preye Yabrifa of Radio Bayelsa Glory Fm 97.1 as Secretary and Hananeel Jackson of Creek Fm emerged as financial secretary.
Others include Doris Eniekezimene of Radio Bayelsa Glory Fm was returned as Treasurer, Mr.Patrick Ndubuisi of AIT/Raypower retained his position as assistant secretary.
Speaking shortly after the election at the Ernest Okoli press centre, Ekeki, Yenagoa, the National Vice President of SWAN South South, Bonny Nyong , urged the newly elected executives to run an all-inclusive Association, stating he was sure that it was the love of the Association that moved them to contest the election.
Mr. Nyong also called on the state government to support SWAN in the quest for members to be at par with their counterparts in other states.
“For the commissioner to be here, it’s shows that there is a cordial working relationship with SWAN.
” Don’t stab your leadership at the back, what you should do, do it well.A house that is divided can never stand and can never be strong,Work as a team,”.he said.
In his remark, commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Dr. Daniel Igali represented by Permanent secretary Ministry of Youths and Sports Development, Chief Patimidi Tukuru advised SWAN members in the state to abide by the rules governing the association.
In his remark, Alambo Datonye, the newly sworn-in Chairman, thanked God and members of the Association for electing him and deeming him worthwhile pointing out that it will be a family affair and that collective interest will be his watchword.
He assured that he would carry everyone in the Bayelsa Chapter of SWAN along, disclosing that his administration will centre on professionallism and welfare of members.
Alambo promised that he will not betray the confidence reposed on him by members, saying his dream and goal is to see members get a higher level of pedestal in business of sports journalism and sports writing in this state.
” My dream and my goal is to see members get a higher level of pedestal in business of Sports journalism and Sports writing in this state.
” For this confidence you have reposed in us, I assure you, we will not disappoint you. We need to work very hard to enchanced the welfare of every SWAN member in Bayelsa State. We want to leave a lasting legacy in Swan Bayelsa,”
Our correspondent reports that the event was attended by the Bayelsa state NUJ Chairman Comrade Samuel Numonengi, Director New Media to Governor Douye Diri Mr. Kola Oredipe and Rivers State SWAN Chairman Jim Opiki.
