The Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), Bayelsa State chapter has elected a 9-man executive to pilot the affairs of the association for the next four years.
The election held in the conference room of the Assembly Complex saw the emergence of Boloupere Ere as chairman, who polled 83 votes to defeat three other contestants.
While declaring the result, the Eleco chairman, Pst. Gorden Abiama said that total registered votes was 296, valid votes 234 while 10 votes were invalid.
He said that Mr. Boloupere Ere having fulfilled the PASAN electoral guideline of polling the highest votes cast is declared the winner.
Others who were elected include Philomina Garry vice chairman, secretary, Mr. Warebi Appah, asst. secretary, Blessing Igrubia, Stephen Edoghotu, welfare secretary, Jennifer Oweisana, social secretary, Comr. Esther Ebhela, treasurer, Mr. Ebimowei John, Internal auditor and David Tariworio publicity secretary.
The state chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Mr. Ebipere Ndiomu in his remarks expressed happiness over the peaceful transition of leadership and urged the workers to be united and work together to achieve common goal.
Also speaking, the National President of PASAN, Comr. Mohammed Usman charged the new executive to carry everybody along, adding that PASAN is all about respect for each other irrespective of the position one is occupying in the association.
He further charge them to be steadfast, innovative and come in with new ideas on how best to run the association to achieve success, urging them not to antagonize management but rather collaborate and build mutual understanding and trust in the overall interest of the parliamentary leadership.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected chairman promised to unite members of the association and called for support and new ideas to move the body forward.
