After the expiration of the 30 days ultimatum given to Port Harcourt electricity distribution company (PHEDC) to address the issue of estimated billing, rationing and lack of power supply in the state, the Ijaw Youths council (IYC) joined by other well meaning Bayelsans took to streets expressing their displeasure over what they described as horrible power supply in the state.
The protest which started at IZONWARI, the headquarters of Ijaw Youth council was led by IYC central zone chairman,Comr.Kennedy Olorogun.
Daily Watch gathered that,the protest lasted about two hours and ended at the Port Harcourt electricity distribution company office at Opolo,Yenagoa.
The protesters who displayed different placards with inscriptions such as “ say no to rationing,give us stable power,we are paying for darkness” among others.
Addressing the protesters, Comr.Kenedy Olorogun accused PHEDC of playing politics with the electricity supply in the state.
Comr. Olorogun maintained that if nothing is done to address the power situation facing Bayelsa, they will have no option than to shun down its activities.
A representative of PHEDC, Mr.Nwachuku promised that they will improve on the power situation.
