The Bayelsa waters are no longer safe again, especially in Ekeremor local government area communities of the state as a gang of notorious sea-pirates led by an ex-militant leader ( name withheld) who led his boys to lay siege in the waterways, maiming and killing their victims after carting away their belongings with a display of sporadic gun shooting of various assorted heavy military weapons.
Daily Watch findings reliably confirmed that Bilabiri 1& 2 communities in Ekeremor local government area where the notorious kingpin and his boys mostly carried out their nefarious activities are greatly hit as the communities in the riverine locality have been turned to a theatre of war where killing take place without any question from security agencies.
A leader of Bilabiri 1&2 communities who preferred not to be mentioned on pages of newspapers told Daily Watch the current operation of the sea-pirates activities are daring and dangerous. He called on the state governor Chief Douye Diri and commissioner of police of the state as well as the army and other security agencies to come to the aide of the communities to comb for the dreaded seapirate leader and his boys.
According to him, ”The Bilabiri 1& 2 communities are mostly affected and are living under the fear of terror occasioned by the senseless sea robbery, killing and intimidation going on in the community.
“This is a “Save Our Soul” message to the relevant authorities such as President Bola Tinubu, Governor Duoye Diri, JTF Command and the Police. If this killing continues, then the people may be forced to take up arms to fight for their redemption”. He added
The Bayelsa state police public relations officer (PPRO) Mr. Musa Mohammed could not pick his calls at the time of filing this report. But another senior police officer from the state police command at Yenagoa who pleaded anonymity told Daily Watch that the police got all the sea activities in the Ekeremor local government and that police is investigating to get the culprits arrested to face the law of the land.
