Federal University, Otuoke in Ogbia Local Government area of Bayelsa state has expelled twenty-nine students over alleged involvement in cultism and examination malpractices in Bayelsa State.
The Registrar of the Institution, Mr. Donald Yousuo Iruo, said that the Senate at its 57th Regular Meeting considered the case of the under-listed Students who were involved in Examination Malpractice and expelled them from the University.
Some students of the Institution however claimed that though the names of the affected students were published, “No details or reasons as to why the students were expelled was made known in the publication”.
The Student Union Government, Comr. Debekeme Kojo Debekeme, however in a response to questions revealed that some of the affected students were cultists while other were involved in examination malpractice.
Comr. Debekeme also explained that the expulsion took place last year while some were expelled during the first semester of the just concluded academic session. The publication came as a result of the agreement between the students union and the school management.
Bayelsa State Correspondent gathered that the affected students have been expelled since last year and the reason for the posting of their pictures and details was as a result of an agreement between the SUG and the school management due to the insecurities FUO have been facing and with findings revealing that most of the atrocities are been carried out by some of the students that have been expelled by the School.
