WARRI- The leadership of Delta Ijaw Grassroot Political Movement (DIGPM) has stated that the emergence of former Vice- President Alhaji Abubakar Atiku as President of Nigeria would guarantee peace and unity because of his support for restructuring, power devolution and true Federalism.
The DIGPM in a statement signed by its Chairman, Hon. Oliver Mala Isaac and Secretary, Mr. Ebikeme Banre noted that the decision by Atiku to return to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, at this point in time was not only apt but his decision to aspire to the office of the presidency is the best thing to happen in the history of Nigeria.
“Your decision to come back to the PDP at this time is the right decision at this time. Your decision to also aspire for the office of the Presidency come 2019 is laudable and a welcome development in the history of Nigeria as a whole”, saying that the decision is not borne out of selfishness .
While stating that Atiku’s political sagacity coupled with the concrete efforts of other well meaning PDP stakeholders was significant in producing Prince Uche Secondus as the generally accepted party leader, they asserted that the DIGPM :is optimistic that with the PDP crisis behind them, and working together in unity, victory for the PDP is quite certain come 2019.
They therefore charge the PDP Governors; forum and other leaders to avoid actions capable of bring setback to party, even as they task them on creating a peaceful environment for a credible party primaries
