Atiku Foundation Challenges Nigerians on Corruption Free leader



Warri-The Atiku Foundation has challenged Nigerians to show one corruption free leader who has served the nation in different capacity.

The Director of Women Affairs,Atiku Foundation,Igho Pearl Patience threw the challenge to the leaders during a chat with Select Journalists in Udu Local Government Area in Delta State.

Patience stated that, “Nobody is clean. We are all dirty trying to make ourselves clean.”

Patience who was reacting to the Corruption Crusade of President Muhammadu Buhari stated that the President’s corruption fight is one sided.

While noting that the President has been doing well in his fight against corruption, Patience said, “Corruption is not the only problem we have in the country. You can’t just fight one sided corruption and think the whole thing is over. No.”

Patience stated that besides corruption, there are other problems which include marginalization, dependence on oil from the Niger Delta Region as well as imposition of candidates on the electorates during election especially as it affects Delta State forthcoming Local Government Elections.

According to Patience, “Which one of the leaders, Past and Present can come out clean and say that he or she is not corrupt?”

Patience further stated that former Vice President,Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is the only presidential candidate that has the requisite qualifications to pilot the affairs of this country stressing that, “No one else will get it better than he who has been there before.”

Patience pointed out that the Turaki of Adamawa State whose mantra is “Restructuring” knows the challenges and mistakes made in the past.

Patience berated the President Muhammadu Buhari’s led All Progressives Congress,APC Federal Government stating that she is disappointed with the way things are done in the country.

Patience also enjoined the president to holistic in trying to solve the nation’s problems.

“It is common knowledge that a lot of us are disappointed at the way things are going and people are clamouring for change and I as a Nigerian, I am not satisfied with what am seeing.”

“Look at what is going on in our Local Government Elections. See what is happening now where candidates are being imposed and you look at it,Primary are no more. Like I said on facebook,it seems the term primary is not part of election and candidates anymore. These are part of the problems we have in our country.”

Patience also urged Delta State Governor,Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa to allow the people at the grassroots practice democracy selecting through “”Primary” their choice representatives in the forthcoming local government elections.

Patience warned that governor Okowa cannot plant his stooges on the people.
“For goodness sake,that is what Primary is all about. Certain people cannot just come and say they are the big boys and then you begin to plant their boys all over even if they’re not qualified.”
