Delta state House of Assembly lawmaker, Hon. Peter Asupa Forteta, representing Burutu North constituency has reiterated commitment for infrastructural development in Burutu communities, just as he warned sea thieves in Bomadi and Burutu riverine areas to desist from it or the threatened the full weight of the law would soon fall on them.
Asupa who is the chairman House committee on Security in Delta State House of Assembly disclosed at the weekend during an exclusive phone chat with Daily Watch, said, ‘‘ I have a responsibility to usher in the needed infrastructural development in Burutu communities as the people have given their mandate to me to represent them at the state house. I will do all my best to fulfill my electoral promises by the grace of God. I have started it. Those supporters that didn’t get appointment would be compensated in several ways. The government just started, I have influenced several political appointments for my constituents. We are yet to dish out infrastructure in various towns as the governor, His excellency, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa is a listening governor and he promised also to the people of Burutu that his second tenure would attract a lot of infrastructural developments, especially roads in Burutu and other riverine communities in Delta state.’’
While answering questions on riverine insecurity by seapirates, the law maker said, ‘’ The Burutu waterway insecurity, perpetrated by seapirates is not new to me as chairman on security. All security information are coming to my desk. We have received the security reports in Burutu. This is not the right channel to tell you what the state government is planning about security in Burutu river and other flash points. But I must make a sound warning to the criminals terrorizing Bomadi, Burutu rivers and other parts in Delta state to desist from it as the full weight of the law shall soon fall on some of them. The state government will not fold its hands while few gang of criminals terrorize innocent citizens in their homes .’’ He threatened.
