Barcelona forward Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang was robbed in the early hours of Monday morning and was said to have been beaten up by armed men.
According to Daily Mail, the Gabonese star was robbed by ’several’ armed men after breaking into his home. It is believed that Aubameyang was attacked in front of his partner as they escaped with jewels after gaining access to a safe.
It is not known as to whether his two children were present at the time of the robbery. Shortly after the incident, the authorities were alerted and have been searching for the armed robbers, who fled in an Audi A3.
Other reports suggest that Aubameyang was beaten with iron bars and firearms before being intimidated to open his personal safe, of which the jewels were reported stashed in.
The Daily Mail also reports that Auba and his partner were forced to lay on the floor, having received instructions from the attackers.
Aubameyang, now 33, faces an uncertain future at Barcelona and was recently linked with a move away from the club. Teams such as Chelsea and Manchester United have reportedly showcased their interest not long before the incident took place.
The attack happened hours after Barca’s 4-0 win over Valladolid in the Spanish LaLiga, with the African star ending the game as an unused substitute in the tie
