YENAGOA-The All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, (ANCOPSS), Bayelsa state says Governor Seriake Dickson’s intervention has helped in repositioning the education sector as the state now ranks among the best in the Country.

It could be recalled that six years ago, the governor declared a state of emergency in the sector, and his decision has begun to yield dividend.

ANCOPSS in a letter of appreciation/commendation signed by Abbey Ayebami River and Christiana Ezetu, Chairman and Secretary respectively attributed the giant strides the state has recorded in the sector to the Governor’s unflinching supports.

The Association noted that inspite of the daunting economic challenge, Governor Dickson because of his passion for the sector is committing sizeable portion of the state earnings to the sector.

The letter reads in part, “we appreciate your unparalleled kindness and interest even at this time of scarce resources. This further goes to confirm your declared interest in the education sector and the declaration of state of emergency.

“ANCOPSS are glad to inform you that the effort is not wasted as Bayelsa came first both in a quiz competition for Junior classes and essay writing for Senior students conducted as part of the MCPT.

“Bayelsa will be representing South-South at the competition during National Congress coming up at Osogbo in Osun state, later in the year.

“We wish to continue to pledge our unfettered loyalty and commitment to duty under your visionary leadership particularly in ensuring the actualization and implementation of education policicies and programmes.”

In his response, the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Jonathan Obuebite commended the efforts of ANCOPSS, and, reiterated the present administration commitment to the sector.

He called on the members to join hands with the government to give a good and solid education to the students, and to achieve this lofty ambition, a lot is expected from both teaching and non teaching staff.

Hon. Obuebite further called for concerted efforts and synergy to ensure that in the sands of time, Bayelsa would be known for education excellence.

He congratulated ANCOPSS for their show of appreciation and asked them to redouble their efforts at ensuring that the state maintains its position on the academics ladder.
