The residents and traders can now comfortably sleep with their eyes closed while traders can beat their chest to testify without experiencing any extortion from these cultist and hoodlums during their business especially as some of the traders came from Mbo, Eket, Eastern Obolo, Ibeno and Mkpat Enin Local Government Areas respectively, when arrive they sell their market about 6:00am in the morning experience the unfortunate events from those cultists not understanding the market management has tight security across the market to protect traders and customers.
In an exclusive interview with journalist, the Chairman of Akpan Andem Market, Mr Nse-abasi Ndon said the came to serve and would not tolerate such developments to bring mud on his administration and especially where the market is operating in Uyo Local Government that when they came on board and studied the entire system they had no option but to zoom into action and chase away those unwanted element entirely from the market because they have to protect the traders doing business and also the customers.
According to him they condemned all their activities in the market and assured the traders and residents of their safety since they also cooperate with the Nigeria Police who are doing excellent jobs without compromise to make sure the citizens are not embarrassed or molested when experiencing buying and selling of goods
In the same vain, he used the opportunity told journalists some of his achievements when came on board barely 7 months how he provided borehole, built an ultramodern market hall without relenting make sure the gutters are clean to have good drainage system across the market, while have monthly meeting in the market twice.
He said despite that plans are on top gear to build health centres in the market and also provide internet while the issue of the newspaper publication against the market was baseless without foundation, as it was a plan perpetuated to tarnish the image of the market and also advise traders and customers to always put on their face masks before entering the market make sure create social distance which would assist to fight against the pandemic and commended government for their efforts to figth the COvid-19 pandemic.
