The Trade Union Congress, Akwa Ibom State Council would not relent Despite the uphill task to make sure advocate for members welfare to be taken care off and especially retire members benefit their pension and gratuity.
The newly sworn -in chairman, Comrade Dominic Abang made this known while speaking with media practitioners shortly after the fifth Triennial Delegates Conference/Swearing-,in of TUC Executive in Uyo.
The Chairman said they have come to serve without disappointment for them to have confident in their ministration understanding injury for one is injury for all, as they should all contribute their quotas for the development of the union while acknowledge he operate an open door policy without discrimination carrying everybody along.
According to him, despite the issue of members welfare the minimum wage has become worrisome to them needs urgent attention by government, because the payment is not encouraging not to talk about take home for the benefit of our family has become a night mare to them.
He noted, in January 2020, we participated in the negotiation and implementation of the 2020 new minimum wage negotiation and consequential adjustment in Akwa Ibom State. Our contribution was immeasurable to the achievement of the overall minimum wage outcome. Subsequently, we engaged government to achieve a reasonable satisfactory CONHESS for the health sector workers.
He said his work would continue to speak for himself especially during his first term where his administration establishes a vibrant TUC Women Commission which has made them stand tall and participate in any labour activities across the nation.
He commended members for their massive turnout during the 5th Triennial Delegates Conference in the State that this development showcase their commitment to the union and should continue to keep the spirit high for others to emulate their gesture.
