Akwa Ibom government should implement the federal government consequential adjustment pension for the benefit of pensioners in the state.
The state chairman Nigeria Union of Pensioners Akwa Ibom state, Obong E. D. Ekpo jp made the appeal while speaking with journalist over the issue of consequential adjustment pension in Uyo.
The chairman said the development is for pensioners to meet up the economy reality of the period while still commended the government for payment of pension as at when due in the state.
According to him, pensioners in the state are law abiding citizens but what we are appealing to government also is just our gratuity and others entitlement which they has been denied generated hardship and experience some of their members died on daily basis is not a welcome development need urgent step to be taken by government to look into their predicament.
He said despite their predicament pensioners in the state are more than forty-five thousand not to talk about the police, the military and other pensioners made them to understand they have that voting strength when it comes to election.
The Akwa Ibom NUP boss advised members to be patient that government would surely dive into the matter and believe most of their request would be fulfilled for them to enjoy their suffering after work for thirty- five years in service.
He commended NUP Akwa Ibom state without relenting to make sure pensioners benefit from their suffering and should continue to encourage them to work hard despite the challenges experience and have confidence on them.
