The member board of trustee Uniuyo mosque, Alhija Sanni Marut says Muslim faithful in the state decry non-inclusion to benefit Covid-19 palliative measures distributed during the lockdown by Akwa Ibom State Government.
Alhija Sanni Marut who spoke with newsmen in Uyo recently, said despite the unfortunate experience government where properly informed about the Muslim community, just like any other organization that benefited from the gesture. “I personally spoke with the Secretary to the State government Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem about our issue which he assured us they will surely extend hand of fellowship to the community but witness the unfortunate experience”.
According to him, the palliative was for every citizens and believe they ought to benefit just as any other citizens leaving in Uyo, while they also operate business and pay their taxes but deny during the palliative measure, but the funny aspect is that politicians are not truthful over their promises, the moment it election period they visit the Muslim community to vote for them immediately after they swear into office, they cannot recognized anybody has their promises has become joke for the millennium.
“With this attitude can any citizens have any dealing with them not to take about voting them again for second term with these experiences which other bodies are complaining bitterly of denying them the covid 19 palliative measures distributed by the government”.
He added that Muslim were not represented during the crucial stakeholders meeting with the government to re-open churches and mosque in the state. Shortly after the meeting only acknowledge a circular from the government for them to obey the guidelines when the church and mosque operate their services especially social distance and put on their mask during prayer section while wash their hand regularly with running water which they have properly educate their members.
He commended the government effort in fighting against Covid 19 pandemic and believe it will be eradicated from the state completely.
