A’Ibom Govt with market union leaders agree on foodstuffs price reduction

Akwa Ibom government has entered an agreement with market Union Leaders for the benefit of her citizens bringing down high cost of foodstuff across market in the state.

Towards the development the market Union Leaders have agreed to frustrate hardship on the citizens especially garri to be staple and sell 3 cups for 100 with immediate effect because delay is dangerous.

 

The Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Gloria Edet has the agreement with market Union Leaders in an interactive session held at Governor Office Annex, Uyo.

 

The commissioner commended them for their understanding and acknowledges them, no trader should not block any individual from bringing any form of foodstuff to sell in the market.

 

She believe they would not sabotage the effort to make sure foodstuff reduce price which most common commodity like garri experience 3 cups for 100 while Akwa Ibom remain the only state provide farm input and interest free loan for farmers.

 

The commissioner for trade and investment, Prince Ukpong Akpabio, on his part, disclosed that government has given approval for the operation of what he called “Ibom Trader Money Market” in the interest of traders to access funds for the expansion of their business to be domiciled in the FADAMA Bank when it begins operation in no distant future in the state.

 

He thanked them for not only attending the meeting but for accepting to cooperate with the state government in the sales of foodstuff within the reach of the common man.
