A’Ibom: Govt sets to declare war on land grabbers

Akwa Ibom commissioner for land and water resources, Captain Iniobong Ekong has warn convert Government land for their personal use should desist for their own interest before they face the consequence.

The commissioner for land and water resources, Captain Iniobong Ekong gave the warning during a courtesy call on security chiefs in his office Uyo.

The Commissioner said the era of converting Government land are over and Government would not tolerate such development and made them to understand if the fail to obey Government directive would surely face the full weight of the law having themselves to blame over their actions.

According to him, Government has put adequate measures in place to assist and guide potential land seekers and buyers, warning that where persons take advantage to trespass on government land would not be tolerated.

He advised those with genuine land to get in touch with his office for necessary guideline and directive as the ministry would not entertain ignorance of the existing extend laws as an excuse would not be honoured for nor abiding by the directive.

The Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Andrew Amiemgheme has commended the Commissioner for his effort to make sure Government correct issues of Government Land and assure him of their full cooperation to crub the exercise of land grabbers and trespassers in the State.

He said, they would not disappoint them over their job and made him to understand the Police always walk 24hours without relenting over their responsibilities.

In his response, the State director Department of State Service, Mr. M.A. Kuami said they would not leave any stone unturned to make sure join force with the ministry to achieve the purpose despite the challenges. He commended the commissioner for his vision and advice to those who are trespassing and grabbing government land to re-think over their action before putting blame on innocent citizens.
