A’Ibom councillor donates books, signposts, wrappers to supporters

No fewer than six primary schools in Akwa Ibom State were presented with sign posts, ionized goal-posts and thousands of customized exercise book to pupils across schools in Uyo Ward 6 by Hon. Uwem Effiong Asuquo, who represents the area in Uyo Local Government Legislature.

The benefiting  Primary Schools were; Bishop Haywoode, Atan Offot, Government School, Afaha Offot, St. Michael’s African Church School, Effiat Offot, St. Patrick’s School, Iboko Offot, Offot Central School, Ikot Oku-Ubo and St. Mary’s Central School, Use Ikot Ebio/ Obio Offot


Also, 200 women and 30 Elders drawn from the area got wrappers, while the councillor used the occasion to launch the ‘’Dakkada Football Competition’’ by donated a trophy to be competed for, by the six primary schools from the area.

Special guest of honour, Chairman, Uyo Capital City Development Authority (UCCDA),Otuekong Enobong Uwah while unveiling of the items Chairman, Uyo Capital City Development Authority (UCCDA), Otuekong Enobong Uwah commended Hon. Uwem Effiong Asuquo’s exceptional leadership and giving a face-lift to primary schools, and empowering the people of Uyo Ward 6.

Hon. Uwah, who was represented by Mr David Sergeant on the occasion said, the initiative of inter-primary schools competition, books donation/sign posts and goal posts would go a long way to promoting schools unity and healthy competition among the pupils.

He said, not many councillors would like to do what Hon. Uwem Effiong has done to their people but, specially thanked him for not failing his supporters.

Hon. Uwah also announced additional trophy and cash donation in support of the inter-football competition for primary schools in the area.


Hon. Uwem Effiong in his remarks, expressed special appreciation to Governor Udom Emmanuel, Hon. Enobong Uwah and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in his Ward for their support during the electioneering campaigns.

He said, the sign-posts/Goal posts and books donations was his widow’s might towards promoting the primary schools in his ward, since he observed that, they were not having signage for people to identify them anymore.

While promising to be more committed to the service of the people, the councillor thanked the elders, youth and women of the ward for their love and appreciated 200 women and 30 Elders with 230 wrappers.

Both the political leaders and women, who took turns to speak, praised the councillor for his good works praying that, God should grant him another opportunity to serve the people at a higher level.

The sign-posts, Goal posts and customized exercise books were later distributed to the six benefiting primary schools in the ward, while wrappers were served on the women/elders respectively.
