The Super Eagles of Nigeria, tonight, defeated the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia 1-0 to win the third place prize at the ongoing African Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Odion Ighalo gave the Super Eagles the lead as early as the 3rd minute after a cross from Jamilu Collins was poorly cleared by Moez Ben Cherifia of Tunisia.

However, Ighalo, who is the leading goal scorer with five goals in the tournament, was substituted due to injury, few seconds before the half time whistle was blown by Referee Ghead Grisha from Egypt. He was replaced by Victor Osimhen.
Tunisia came very close to getting an equaliser at the very beginning of the second half of the game when Firas Chaouat’s shot hit the Nigeria’s side net.
In the 62nd minute, Chukwueze’s long range shot, which would have doubled Nigeria’s lead, was parried away by the Tunisian keeper.
Samuel Kalu’s powerful free kick in the 90th minute was pushed over the cross bar by the Tunisian keeper.
Kalu also had another free kick saved by the Tunisian keeper in the 92nd minute.
