Cheif Felix Anirah has urged the Nigeria Football Federation,NFF and the Super Eagles technical crew to device means to inject Africa/home based players into the National Team following the Nigeria Super Eagles performance in the ongoing Egypt 2019 Africa Cup of Nation.
The former goalkeeper pointed out that the fact that the Senior National team is loaded with talented but fragile foreign based players, he said AFCON is a physical and it is a different ball game from Europe football.
The sports philanthropist noted that two out of the four gaols the Eagles has conceded so far is as a result of power play.
“We need some of our local players who can also play physical football with their opponents especially in Africa competition”.
“No doubt almost all our players are foreign based and they are not willing to give their best because most of them play for the money and they often think of their club where they will return to make more money, probably they are not strong enough to play physical Africa style of football”.
” But the local players want to play and make name for themselves, therefore putting their best is the key”.
” The game against Madagascar exposed the Eagles, which clearly show how they have being struggling “.
The sponsor of the Anirah Cup admit that so far the Nigeria team have what it takes to win the 2019 AFCON if they believed in themselves and improve their style of play.
Nigeria will face South Africa July 10th in the quarter final after defeating Cameroon 3-2 in the round of 16.
