Activist decries marginalisation of Delta Ijaws in NDDC

Mr. Jerome Demebide,President of Ijaw Social Human Rights Group ISHRG has decried alleged marginalisation of Delta Ijaws in the present nomination into the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to  address  the political injustice.

The human rights activists in a Statement , at Warri Called on President Mohammadu Buhari to revisit the two nominations from Delta State and accommodate person from Ijaw in addressing the abnormalities meted to Delta Ijaws .


He accused the deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-agege for deliberately denying the Ijaws of appointment in  NDDC and other positions.

The Statement also called on Security agencies to arrest any individual or group of persons with clandestine intent of disrupting the relative Peace in the Niger Delta region, using the name of Ijaw Youth Congress, IYC to cause unnecessary tension in NDDC

Demebide lampooned the Ijaw youth body for dragging their supremacy contest  into the current NDDC board appointments and the call on President Muhammadu Buhari to sack the Minister of Niger Delta Affair, Gods will Akpabio.

He said, “The Umbrella body of IYC does not have a president who speak for  interest of Ijaw Youth’s for now, rather they are individuals concern with their own interest”.

He also called on Barrister Eric Omare to stop  using IYC umbrella to support Chief Bernard Okumagba and Prophet Jones Erue,

He said, “Eric Omare should be mindful because the APC Political leader’s from Delta Central has deliberately denied Ijaw people appointment, when Otega Emerho Emerge as APC Leader  in Delta State.

“Omare should remember that it was Urhobo and Isoko Nation that produces the immediate pass Board members and and we re having the same Uhrobo and isoko Nation Son’s in the present nomination list.,” he said.
