Akwa Ibom Police Command has detained Mr Joseph Sunday for randomly defiling two of his daughters recently.
Police public Relations Officer, Odiko Macdon confirmed the incident to newsmen in Uyo yesterday saying, the suspect, who was arrested following a report by one of the daughters was cooling off in detention.
The suspect from Obot Idim community in Ibesikpo Local Government Area of the state, is alleged to have randomly raped the two daughters, aged nine and thirteen respectively, after marriage with their mother had terminated few years ago.
Daily Watch gathered that, the man’s illicit affairs with the two children was leaked to the police, when he (Joseph Sunday) out of jealousy beat up one of the daughters for suspecting she befriended another man.
The man, it was also learnt, has been having sexual bliss all the while with the children until it was busted by one of the aggrieved daughters.
Mr Sunday on interrogation by the police, had confessed to the crime claiming, he wanted to be sure his manhood was potent and agile.
According to him, “my wife left me some years ago because of some family issues I had with her and relocated to Rivers State. I have been the only one taking care of my daughters. So, I just want to test if my manhood is still functional using my daughters’’.
This is even as the Police Command has also arrested two men in their seventies, for another rape of a fourteen year old girl in Akwa Ibom.
While narrating the ordeal, one of them claimed, the victim was his wife whom he met at the market and married but complaining that, his friend would always come in and used her whenever he was not around.
The secret sexual relationship became public, when there was a disagreement between the two of them which resulted in an arrest following a report to the police by neighbours.
“I was shocked to overhear two old men in their seventies, arguing over sex with a fourteen year old girl. The one that the girl stayed with accused his friend of always sneaking in to sleep with the girl any time he went out’’, said the neighbour who did not want his name in print.
But the prime suspect, had denied raping the girl insisting that the girl was his wife.
,”I did not rape the girl. She is my wife. I saw her in a village market and I talked to her and she agreed to be my wife and followed me to the house. But it was my friend who always come to have sex with her each time I go out’’, one of the suspects stated.
The victim it was gathered, is already pregnant without knowing who among them was responsible.
The Police have said, they were tracing the girl’s family as she has been taken to the Family Enhancement and Youth Re-orientation Center; a pet project of the Governor’s wife, Martha.
The PPRO has said, all the cases would be charged to court after the investigations are concluded.
