WARRI- A thirty two year old man, Mr. Okpiden Obas on Sunday December 3 appealed to the Federal and Delta State Government including the general public to come to assist him raise the sum of four million naira to enable him embark on a medical operation on dislocated hip joints in India.

Obas, a shoe and clothe seller has been finding it difficult to walk, move, stand and bend since he was involved in boat mishap which claimed the lives of nine persons along the Escravos River in Warri South-West Local Government Area on the 24th March.
The problem which a Consultant Radiologist/Sonologist, Dr. Onyemesili.J.C. described as bilateral femoral heads avascular necrosis and bilateral hip joint osteoarthritic changes has been worsening progressively with Obas financially handicapped to continue his twenty thousand naira weekly medication at UBTH let alone raise the four million naira for his operation in India.
Obas who was being assisted by the Proprietor of Global Read Partners,Mr. Safo Boamah and one Ade Joses along Okere-Ugborikoko road is in serious pains around his hip bones and he has been warned to embark on the operation to avoid rottenness of the bones inside his body.

To worsen matters, Obas has been deserted by his wife and family with a quit notice from his landlord due to the ailment.
Obas who currently takes refuge at Bible Believers Ministry every night near polokor market since three weeks ago has been sleeping in market shops and commercial tricycles along Okere-Ugborikoko road, Warri.

Narrating how the incident occurred to journalists, Obas said he was on his way from Warri to Escravos to sell clothes when the 75 horse power engine passport 19 speed boat he boarded on a high speed collided with another passport 19 with 200 horse power engine also on high speed and in the process, nine persons from the two boats died.
Obas said that when he opened his eyes, he discovered he was at the UBTH and the only thing he could remember was that he was referred from the Central Hospital Warri.
Obas noted that he lost goods worth one hundred and five thousand naira in the unfortunate incident.
Obas said,”It was at UBTH it was discovered that I have bilateral femoral heads avascular necrosis and bilateral hip joint osteoarthritic changes in his body.”
“It was a Chinese man who got married to a Benin lady that helped pay the bill of one hundred of fifty thousand naira before I was discharged from UBTH. The man came to see his wife at the hospital and he saw my conditions and helped.”
“My wife ran away and my family abandoned me. I sleep inside Keke since three weeks when I returned from UBTH. I also sleep inside stores. If civil Defence sees me, I explain to them. I have also slept in Barbing saloons before I started sleeping inside that church in Bright Hope Street.”
