The Convener, Asiwaju People’s Forum APF, Princess Folasade Adunni Ogunbiyi has maintained that the National Leader of All Progressives Congress APC and 2023 Presidential aspirant, Bola Ahmed Tinubu remain the best person to take over from President Muhammadu Buhari.
Ogunbiyi, a chieftain of All Progressives Congress APC, in a statement on Saturday and made available to newsmen in Warri, said, the former Governor of Lagos state, has the capacity to consolidate on Buhari’s achievements and further transform the country if given the opportunity to be next President in 2023.
The pro-Tinubu supporter, noted that ” looking back at Asiwaju’s political trajectory for the past 30years. From the aborted third republic to the years of Abacha’s military junta. From the return of civilian rule in 1999 till now. He has remained consistently committed towards enriching/expanding our democratic frontiers”.
” Tinubu’s subsequent electoral victory in 1999 as Lagos state governor brought a revolutionary transformation in the state, from a hitherto decaying infrastructure to a robust and thriving mega city that became a pride to lagosians in particular and the black race in general. Tinubu transformed the civil service, from less than 30 parastatals in 1999 to more than 100 agencies, thereby creating more jobs and opportunities for the teaming populace. He equipped the workforce with the prerequisites capacity through training and retraining, thereby widening their scope of productivity”.
She further pointed, ” from the socio-political frontier, Asiwaju build and nurtured a hitherto sectional political party from AD to AC and ACN, until the time became right to join forces for higher political goals. Even when it was most convenient for many political big wigs to jump into the then ruling party (PDP), either to secure their loots or other pecuniary considerations, he remained in the opposition, because he has neither anything to fear nor something to hide”.
” As a political strategist, in 2015, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu knew the time was right to join forces with other political groups ostensibly to save the nation from imminent collapse occasioned by 16years of PDP misrule. Many students of Nigeria’s contemporary political history/economist will agree with that 8years of an APC leadership will never be enough to rebuild what the PDP led government plundered during the 16 years they held sway as the ruling party in Nigeria. It’s easier to destroy than to build”.
According to her, ” The major attributes of good leaders is to lay out a successive plan, identify individuals with the requisite capacity to build on the foundation he or she have laid. These, Asiwaju has done in Lagos. A cursory look at the successive governors in Lagos state since he left office in 2007 will attest to the simple fact that none has deviated from the developmental plans set by Asiwaju. Who among the class of 1999 governors were able to build and sustained the political structure as Asiwaju has done? None. He allowed his personal ambition be subsumed for the general good”.
” These are few among the many qualities Tinubu has exhibited that stands him out among the crowd of the packs of the inconsistent politicians jostling for the soul of the nation. With 2023 general election in sight, we should be guided to make the right choice by electing a leader we can trust, a leader who has the requisite capacity to rescue the country from the grip of poverty, insecurity, despondency and economic stagnation, and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu aka Jagaban Borgu, is the right man for the moment”.
Ogunbiyi also expressed hope that Tinubu will emerge victorious at the APC presidential primary and appealed to party delegates to vote Tinubu.
