One of the most beautiful thing about the game of football is the ability of underdogs to upstage their bigger and more ambitious big brothers.
These we have seen in resent years as in Europe when Villarreal eliminated Bayern Munich in the UCL thanks to a goal scored by Nigerian Samuel Chukwueze at the Allienz Arena to stun the host.
Arsenal lost to Nottingham Forest in the English FA cup is a feat that can’t be easily forgotten as most recently in the ongoing UEFA Nations League, Hungary defeated England to show that any team can beat any team on their good day.
A feat that can’t be reciprocated in the ongoing Delta State version of the Aiteo Cup which saw Warri Wolves for the fear of elimination walked off the pitch of play after the game ended 1-1 in normal team.
The players of Warri Wolves under the influence of Mr Moses Etu walked off the pitch, leaving on the pitch the officials and the opposing team.
Shortly after Mr Azuka Ogosi sent a circular to both clubs stating that the quarter finals game between Warri Wolves and Sporting FC of Warri will be replayed in Asaba.
A move that was condemned by many as Sporting FC Chairman, Prince Godstime Emiko rejected the move stating that his players would not honour the rescheduled game because the decision was a very wrong one.
“I, prince Godstime Emiko the chairman of Sporting FC Warri will not honour the purportedly rescheduled match slated for Thursday. I will not accept your unpopular decision. I am advising you and your board to reverse your wrong decision. It is not too late, he stated”
Whatever happens on Thursday after the game is replayed, if Warri Wolves makes it to the final then grassroot football has been murdered in Delta State.
